3 Ways to Boost SEO for Free

Keep in mind before reading this, using social media properly is a great way to boost your SEO for free. There is no 100% guaranteed way to get your small business on the first page of Google but there are a lot of things that you can do to work on it. Staying active and consistently posting, tagging other people in your posts, and adding a location are all very important if you want to increase your SEO. If you start to feel overwhelmed, reach out to Madak for a customized strategy and a one-on-one session with a social media expert.

  1. Add a call to action and URL (to your site) in every post that is directly related to your business. Your CTA should be simple and your URL needs to be optimized depending on the platform. Facebook and Twitter are simple, you can just add your website link to the post. Instagram is where it starts to get a little complicated. You can’t click on a link in a caption on Instagram, so after your call to action you put “link in bio”. This directs people to your profile page where your original website link is easy to click on. Again, if this link is different from your homepage, you will most likely want to use to shorten the link. Remember, social media is about ease so you want to make sure that you make it as easy as possible for your followers to get to your site.
  2. Request Google reviews from clients/customers. Before you request reviews you need to set up your Google My Business profile. It should be as complete as possible. There are a lot of platforms that your business can receive reviews on but Google should be the number one priority if your interest is SEO. This is simply because Google and SEO go hand in hand.

  3. If you need text content, Google Trends is a great way to not only come up with keywords but to choose the most optimized ones. Google Trends allows you to look up keywords and view the analytics on how often that word is searched for on Google. It is a great way to help you choose between synonyms, for example, deciding between naming your company Tulip Media or Tulip Productions. It helps give you an idea of what keywords to add to your social media posts and what hashtags to use. Google Trends gives you information like what time of the year a word is used more often and compare that word to others. This can be helpful if you sell products that make great gifts. Around the holidays you can compare the words ‘gifts’ and ‘presents’ to see which which is more popular in November – December. Gifts is clearly a more searched word, specifically in December.
